Unsecured Credit Cards for No Credit

You might be able to get a student credit card if you are still in college or grad school. Know that many issuers like it when you get good grades. Being a student is hard work, and having a good GPA shows that you are dedicated and take your responsibilities seriously.

You can get an unsecured credit card even if you don't have much of a credit history, but you have to be careful. They might say that almost anyone can get one, but the costs of using one can be through the roof. And there are a few that don't have grace periods, which means you start paying interest the day your purchase shows up on your account.

I usually suggest that you get a top secured card instead of one of these unsecured cards. If you still want to use these cards, make sure you read all the small print. Read it maybe three or four times. People with no credit or bad credit may also be able to get preapproved for unsecured cards.

Credit Cards for Retail

Retail credit cards can help you build credit, but they also have some problems. Make sure to read the terms and know how much interest you will have to pay. Because the interest rates are high and the credit limits are usually low, these cards are much easier to get than most other cards.

Retail credit cards can be helpful if you want to find out about sales or get rewards at a store where you shop often. But don't use these credit cards if you still owe money on them. With compound interest, your savings quickly grow. Plus, your credit score can be hurt if your balance is more than 30% of your credit limit.
